Self esteem is how you perceive yourself. There are various factors that you should have a positive attitude about, including the value on yourself as a human being, your career and your achievements. The positive attitude on these factors develop your self esteem.

That is only for starters, one has to go deeper an see a positive meaning to your place in the world and as well as your purpose in life. In looking at the future, there should be optimism while evaluating your potential to be successful by working on your weaknesses and highlighting the strengths. Last but certainly not the least you have to have independence or the capacity to stand on your own two feet because being independent is one good way to start building a high self esteem.

Knowing all these things will help a great deal but there might also be other factors that you want to add. Building high self esteem is all about you and that is true because your self worth is obviously based on how you see yourself.

However the people surrounding you also have an impact on your self esteem, especially the people with whom you have a close relationship with. This is the reason why there are a lot of cases of damaged self esteems that are somehow related to emotional and physical battery as well as milder cases of heartbreaks.

Getting back on your feet has a lot to do with getting that self esteem back after a shattering experience. It does not matter if you work on building it slowly so long as you are focused at getting your high self esteem back to where it belongs.

The importance of high self esteem is one thing that we cannot ignore because it is very crucial as a cornerstone to a happy living. Having a high level of this aspect of yourself will make you highly motivated to work at achieving your goals will give you the right attitude to be successful in whatever endeavor you choose to take.

For those who have low self esteem, look within yourselves and discover that there is so much about you that you can be proud of. For those who are already working on building high self esteem, keep up the good work and don’t let anything challenging stop you.

When you are young you begin developing ideas about what you want to be when you grow up. As the years go by your ideas begin to change by influencing factors, including people. Your passion about something makes you feel happy and motivated.

As you experience new relationships, hobbies and events in your lives, you develop interests and ultimately you become passionate about some of them. It’s these passions that make the stressors of life dissipate. What may have been a passion in your twenties may very well change in your forties or more. You may find that the career you chose in college no longer satisfies your needs, once your basic needs have been met.

While once your passion may have been to make enough money to pay the bills, your passion may change whereby you desire to help others. Unfortunately, many people fail to live a life filled
with passion. Fearful of rejection or of success keeps many people from pursuing their dreams; they simply don’t have enough faith in themselves to reach for the stars.

What makes you happy? Do you have a hobby that you just can’t get enough of? Take the step of writing down any way that you could make money at doing your
favorite thing and try it in your spare time. You might find a new career doing exactly what you are passionate about!

Our thoughts are reflected by our behaviors and attitudes, which in turn affects how we deal with other people and how we live our lives. This means that if you are nurturing negative thoughts then it will be reflected in everything you do. The key is in positive thinking.

Thoughts are very important especially since we make use of them repetitively. They are likened to a recording, which we play over and over in our minds. The thoughts that we have help us to shape our lives.

If we want to make positive changes in our lives then we have to change the way we think. If you are used to having negative thoughts then it is high time that you eject your negative mental recording and insert a new one that will provide you with the results that you want. By changing your mental recording you will be able to change in time your attitude, behavior and actions. Of course by changing your negative attitude you will be able to gain positive results such as attracting friends, attaining success in your job and a more happy and peaceful life.

However, in order to really obtain maximum positive results you need to repetitively cultivate positive thoughts in you until you fully gain the power of positive affirmation. The positive thoughts that you repeatedly cultivate in your mind will enter your subconscious and from there will affect your life and all those that surround you.

In developing a positive attitude you are not expected to change over night so you don’t need to overexert or strain yourself just to make all the positive changes happen. All you need to do is to allow the positive changes in you to occur gradually until you became accustomed to them.

It would also help if you could choose a positive thought that you want to realize and try to repeat it in your mind until it becomes a natural part of your everyday thoughts. Think of something that upsets you and concentrate on changing it.

Usually, in situations that upset you, it is your confidence that is affected. So that is where you should focus your thoughts by developing self-confidence. Try to picture yourself as a confident person with high self-esteem and not being affected by negative gossips or unpleasant situations and this will improve your positive attitude.

Keep repeating the positive thoughts in your mind until it finally becomes a natural part of you. You will be surprised how many things will begin to workout for you. Positive thoughts allows people to change for the better and help them to believe in their strength and their abilities to overcome any type of difficulties that may come their way.

All your past hurts, fears, ‘failures’ in your mind, embarrassing moments, ended loves, are all stages of learning. They are not something to be ashamed of. They are your teachers of life. If you can do this you are on your path to success.

So, when does self improvement become synonymous with success and where do you start? here are some tips to begin with:

Stop thinking and feeling as if you’re a failure, because you’re not. How can others accept you if you can’t accept you?

When you see models on TV, think more on self improvement, not seeing how you compare and being disparaging to yourself. Self acceptance is not just about having a nice body. Concentrate on inner beauty.

When people feel so down and low about themselves, help them move up. Don’t go down with them. They’ll pull you down further and both of you will end up feeling inferior.

The world is a large room for lessons, not mistakes. Don’t feel stupid and doomed forever just because you failed on a science quiz. There’s always a next time. Make rooms for self improvement.

Take things one at a time. Self improvement is a one day at a time process.

Self improvement results to inner stability, personality development and success. It comes from self confidence, self appreciation and self esteem.

Set meaningful and achievable goals. It hopes and aims to result to an improved and better you.

Little things mean a big thing to other people. Sometimes, we don’t realize that the little things that we may feel insignificant as simple things, can mean so much to other people. When you are being appreciative about beautiful things around us and other people, you also become beautiful to them.

When you’re willing to accept change and go through the process of self improvement, it doesn’t mean that everyone else is. The world is a place where people of different values and attitude hang out. Sometimes, even if you think you and your best friend are similar, they would probably decline an invitation for self improvement.

You should always remember that there’s no such thing as ‘over night success’. When you begin your self improvement ‘course’ you are already walking down the road to success.

Many individuals are working and going to school at the same time, or working two jobs. Even people who are working just one job, or taking care of a household full time, need to learn time management techniques so they can maximize their efficiency.

One of the best tried and true time management techniques is basic goal setting. Set big goals, and then break them down into smaller goals, and establish the tasks and achievements necessary to achieve those small goals. One day they will add up to your big goals.

Say, for instance, that your major goal is to get a promotion at work. You research the qualifications for the job you hope to get, and you find out you need a college degree – but you didn’t quite finish yours. At the same time, you notice that, fairly or unfairly, everyone you know who is at the level where you want to be in their career is extremely physically fit and healthy looking, whereas you could stand to lose a few pounds. How does this time management technique work?

First, you set two minor goals: Getting a college degree and losing 20 pounds, all while keeping your job. Now break each goal into smaller goals, tasks and achievements. Write it all down to make it more real. Using this time management technique, your lists will look something like this:

MAJOR GOAL: Getting A Better Job.

Minor goal #1: Finish your college degree.

*Sub-minor goal: Decide which college you will graduate from.
**Tasks to achieve this goal: Online research to see which colleges offer night classes; visit campuses of qualifying campuses; meet with admissions to see which school will give you credit for your previous course work. Don’t overlook online courses as a way to finish your degree.

*Sub-minor goal: Earn the required credits.
**Tasks to achieve this goal: Review course catalog; choose courses; register for class; attend classes and do coursework.

Minor goal #2: Lose 20 lbs.

Sub-minor goal: Lose 5 lbs.
**Tasks to achieve this goal: Join WeightWatchers; join a gym. Start eating healthy meals and watching your meal portion size. Drink lots of water. Visit the gym five days a week.
Sub-minor goal: repeat previous goal three more times.

And so forth. As you plan your day, add one or more of the tasks you need to complete to your daily schedule. By using the time management technique of scheduling a goal-achieving task as an actual appointment in your day, you are more likely to make that call to the registrar, or study for your next class once you have enrolled.

The beauty of this time management technique is that it can be used to break daunting, seemingly impossible achievements into small, doable tasks. By plodding forward, one task at a time, you move, unstoppable, toward your major goal.
